Zur Entstehungsgeschichte hat Gitarrist Maik Weichert auch einiegs zu erzählen:
„Bei den Dreharbeiten zu unserem Video zu „Endzeit“ sind Marcus und ich unter anderem auch als Servicetechniker verkleidet in der Leipziger Innenstadt unterwegs gewesen und haben Kameras in Einkaufstraßen sowie an anderen belebten Plätzen installiert. Es waren natürlich nur Kameraattrappen, aber die sahen schon verdammt echt aus. Als wir gerade die Überwachung der örtlichen Filiale eines allseits bekannten Schnellrestaurants vorbereiteten, traten drei grüne Männchen und ein grünes Weibchen an uns heran und erkundigten sich nach der Sachlage – „besorgte Bürger hätten angerufen und erzählt, dass hier etwas verdächtiges im Gange sei“, schilderten sie uns ihren Einsatzbefehl. Darauf fragte ich, ob sie sicher wären, dass die „besorgten Bürger“ uns gemeint haben!? Schließlich laufen hier in Leipzig in der Fußgängerzone einige komische Gestalten rum! Diese Einschätzung fand ein Viertel der Einsatzkräfte witzig, ein anderes Viertel war angepisst und die restlichen zwei Viertel hatten den Joke, glaube ich, nicht verstanden. Daraufhin wurden unsere Freunde und Helfer etwas ungehaltener und stellten uns tatsächlich einen längeren Aufenthalt bei schlechtem Automatenkaffe und Neonbeleuchtung auf dem Revier in Aussicht. Es gab jetzt nur zwei Möglichkeiten: Wir hätten uns den Weg freischießen können, entschieden uns dann aber doch dafür, die Situation mit Hilfe des Presseausweises unseres Kameramannes aufzuklären. Nach einiger Zeit und Rücksprache per Funk mit ihrem Oberförster ließen sie uns wieder laufen. Das ganze wurde natürlich mit versteckter Kamera gefilmt und wird in unserem Privatarchiv ein Quell ewiger Freude sein, ich fürchte leider, dass wir jedoch keine offizielle Freigabe für dieses Video bekommen. So bleibt nur zu sagen: Wieder einmal beinnahe im Knast gelandet - aber was tut man nicht alles für den Metal!“

Undying, aus North Carolina, haben sich aufgelöst.
Hier das Statement der Band:
'After playing the final show of our final tour on March 6th of the year 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Undying has decided to part ways. As is always the case, we have our reasons for the break-up, some petty, some great, none of which we will go into here. Suffice to say that for the past eight years we have had the rare opportunity to travel the world, have more than a few interesting experiences, and make friends, too many to be counted here, who we will hold heart-close and dear for a lifetime and more. Our thanks and love truly, to each and every one.
And so, we dedicate these past eight years of our lives, all of the songs we have sung, to everyone who is fighting to save a tiny bit of this sad, ravaged world, to anyone, anywhere who longs to dance in the ashes of this last empire that has marched and herded us so close to collapse. In these days, when so much is denied us, in the shadow of a culture built upon ceaseless suffering, on relentless consumption, on the graves of all who oppose it, let us remember, that anything is possible. Long live the poets and the dreamers. Long live the armies of the heart, who so love the world, who have given so much to save her. Long live actions that speak loudly, words that inspire, words that incite, music that's a weapon. Long live.

Das neue Thursday-Album "A City By The Light Divided" steht vor der Tür, und einhergehend verkündet die Band im Mai eine sieben Auftritte umfassende UK-Tour. Ob man um diesen Zeitraum herum auch andere europäische Konzerttermine wahrnehmen wird, ist nicht bekannt. Also, weiter hoffen.

Zao haben den Klassiker "Black Coffee" von Black Flag gecovert und online gestellt. Den Song haben sie letzte Jahr im Sommer aufgenommen und wird auf dem in Kürze erscheinenden "Black Flag:A Tribute To Black Flag" Tribute enthalten sein. Den Song kann man sich auf der MySpace Seite der Jungs anhören.

Wochen nach dem Verkünden, dass sich Champion auflösen, gibt es ein Statement von Frontman Jim Hesketh:
"After 7 years, one full length, two 7" eps, one split ep with friends, Betrayed, countless tours spanning Asia, Europe, Australia, Caribbean, and North America, Champion, the straightedge band based out of Seattle Washington has decided to call it quits. While in the process of writing for the 2nd full length we realized that the band might be better put to rest. The amount of touring we had done on the 1st full-length was so extreme that in a way we wore ourselves out. Champion was started as something we did for fun. We wanted to create hardcore music the way we liked. Trying to gear up for the new record and crazy touring schedule left us all feeling like it was more of a job to us than our passion. There is nothing I loved more than touring, being on the road, seeing new faces every night, seeing familiar faces from the time before. It was my favorite aspects of Champion. But there came a point when things became to feel like a business to us. We have always had problems keeping people in the band who can keep up with our hectic touring schedule so there were always people in and out of the band. With all the pressure to do another record and to tour, it wasn't what we 'wanted' to do anymore; it was what we 'had' to do. So before making any commitments that we would be bound to, we decided to end it now, while everyone in the band was still friends and still loved everything we did together as a band. No one sold out. Todd and Aram will continue with their band Betrayed, myself and Chris will go into hiding and show our faces time and time again at shows in the pit like we always have. We will be doing our final show May 27th in Seattle at El Corazon. The Answer, Sinking Ships, Allegiance, and Outbreak will be playing. Champion was my everything for 7 years of my life, now it is time to move on and it's hard for me to do. I hope everyone can come out for our last show. Thank you for the memories."

Die Hype-technisch gerade durch die Decke gekrachten US-Punks Fall Out Boy haben sich umbenannt. Zumindest für heute Abend werden sie Saved Latin heißen, wenn sie in New York auf der Bühne stehen. Warum sie sich für heute ein Synonym zugelegt haben, ist allerdings nicht bekannt.

Entgegen den Ankündigungen im Netz, gaben Planes Mistaken For Stars nun bekannt, dass ihr neues Album nicht im Juni erscheinen wird. Der augenscheinlichste Grund dafür ist, dass der neue Longplayer noch gar nicht eingespielt ist. Zumindest für einen Produzenten haben sie sich bereits entschieden und zwar Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Norma Jean). Ein neuer Veröffentlichungstermin ist indes noch nicht bekannt.

Unearth werden nächste Woche das Studio X in Seattle bunkern und zusammen mit Terry Date (Soundgarden, Pantera) das nächste Album aufnehmen. Erscheinen soll es dann im August via Metal Balde. Hier ein Kommentar vom Frontmann Trevor Phipps:
"If anyone were to tell me (when I was a kid) that my band was going to be doing a record with the guy that produced most of the Pantera, Deftones and Soundgarden records one day; I would have told them they were crazy. Working with Terry Date is another of the amazing accomplishments for us on a growing list of accomplishments. We have toured with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Slayer and with Vinnie and Dime. We have toured much of the world and we have shared the stage with all of the current heavy music leaders on all of the big modern day tours; and now, we are working with the leader of heavy music's producer and engineer, Terry Date. Unearth will forever sound like Unearth and we know Terry has an knack for bringing out the best qualities and sounds in the bands he works with and we could not be more stoked to work with him. There is no question that this next record will be our best to date."

“I really like what Warcon stands for. In today’s music climate, it’s more intriguing to be involved in every aspect of the project. The structure of this deal makes me more of a partner rather than the traditionally signed artist / record deal approach, which for me personally has little value anymore.”

Die Get Up Kids sind Geschichte, doch die musikalischen Seitenprojekte nach wie vor aktiv. Nachdem Sänger/Gitarrist Matt Pryor vor kurzem unter dem Namen Terrible Twos ein entzückendes Album für Kinder herausgebracht hat, und das letzte Album der Amsterdams, "Killed Or Cured" nur als Download über deren Website zu beziehen war, veröffentlicht Vagrant nun Ende März mit "Story Like A Scar" ihre nächste Platte. Es sei anders als alles was sie zuvor gemacht hätten, erklärt Pryor. Eine Hörpröbe findet man auf der Labelsite.

Misery Signals haben einen Ersatz für ihren im Dezember gegangenen Sänger gefunden. Bisher ist nur bekannt, dass er Karl heißt. Mehr Informationen, aus dem folgenden Bandestatemant gibt es bisher nicht:
"We still havent made the official press release about things, but we have solidified a new vocalist. His name is Karl, he is canadian and brutal. We have been working on material for our upcoming record for the last few months and things are coming along really well. We have begun doing demos of the new songs and we are all really excited about the way the songs are turning out. We have some really exciting tour news that we cant announce just yet, but rest assured it is awesome."

Hawthorne Heights (warum eigentlich ausgerechnet die?) wollen den Rock retten und den Majors eins auswischen. Und wer dabei mithelfen will kauft am besten das neue Album der Band - so die bestechende Logik. Das Statement der Jungs:
You buying our album tomorrow has much greater meaning than simply supporting Hawthorne Heights. ROCK music needs your support. Our society and culture has put rock music on the backburner. If our album can debut at #1 all of us will have taken ROCK music back to the top of the charts where it belongs. You might ask, how has ROCK been put on the backburner? A current example is an artist that we are up against called Ne-Yo. Many people are saying that Ne-Yo is going to outsell us because Ne-Yo has had a tremendous amount of over the top, mainstream media coverage. His album will be in stores tomorrow. Radio has played his single 160,000 times. Our single has been played 3,800 times. We know that does not seem possible but it is the truth. Ne-Yo is on a major label. Hawthorne Heights is on an independent label.
ROCK music needs to win tomorrow. Independent needs to beat Major tomorrow.

Von Letter Kills sollte man in naher Zukunft nichts erwarten, wie folgendes Statement der Band verdeutlicht:
Rather than tell all, all i'm going to say is that LK is not going to be active this year. not all of the members live in the same state, and currently everyone in the band is focusing on other areas of their lives. God only knows what the future holds for LK, but up to this point is has been an absolutely incredible experience.
We want to thank our friends, our families, and very importantly, our fans. I will continue to be on here answering questions, shooting the breeze with whoever cares, and if this site goes inactive, i'll set another one up. thanks you guys.

Ende September hoffen Fear Before The March Of Flames, ihr neues Album zu veröffentlichen. In Kürze wird die Band ein Studio in Seattle beziehen, um jenes auf Band zu verewigen. Kommen wird der Nachfolger zu "Art Damage" von 2004 über Equal Vision. Fans der Blood Brothers oder von Converge sollten zugreifen dürfen bei dem, was da zusammen mit Bob Darling (Gitarrist bei Gatsby's American Dream) und Casey Bates entsteht.

Die sich erst kürzlich getrennten Further Seems Forever haben Ärger mit den kanadischen Behörden bekommen und stehen dort ab sofort auf einer schwarzen Liste. Das bedeutet, dass sie vorerst nicht nach Kanada einreisen dürfen. Ursprünglich sollten sie für ein Abschiedskonzert am 26. nach Alberta kommen:
"Imagine you leave Fort Lauderdale at 6 AM fly to Houston. Run to your plane and fly to Calgary Canada. You arrive only to deal with a Power tripping Immigration lady who is pissed about an incorrectly filled out form. The promotor tries to reason with her and her boss for an hour be she won't budge.
She files papers to have you removed from Canada or go to jail! She also informs you that you are banned from Canada for 1 year under penalty of arrest and a $5,000 fine if you try to return. She escorts you and your band members to a flight to Denver and then we wait 4 hours to catch a flight to Fort Lauderdale. We arrive home at 5 AM twenty four hours after the nightmare started. We apologize for the cancelled shows but it was out of our control. We are going to fight the ban and do our best to make up the shows."
